For years, The Harrison Public Library was fortunate to be the home to tiny, friendly, fantastical creatures called Booklings. Our community shared letters, gifts and games with these Booklings, and we never imagined a time without them. But around 30 years ago, we stopped hearing from the Booklings. It seemed they had left… We thought they were gone for good.

But.

Lately…

We’ve been noticing some exciting signs that Booklings may be returning…

And now we need your help!

Will you join our quest to bring back the Booklings? This is your opportunity to jump into a story!

STARTING JUNE 16, visit the library’s Service Desk to pick up a special Searching for Booklings Journey Case to get started! You’ll visit the Museum of Booklings to view discovered Bookling artifacts, and hear stories about Booklings from people who interacted with them firsthand. Then you’ll travel through stops in the library (see the map below) where signs of Booklings have been observed, and you’ll participate in imagination-based activities that we think will help bring the Booklings back!

Professor Cornelius Holloway (a specialist in Whimsical Academia, of course!) will act as your narrator and guide, as you explore and journey at your own pace. This experience will stretch your imagination, inspire creativity, bolster connection and open the door to excitement, play, and fun! It’s suited for participants ages 5 through 105, but younger kids can participate with a parent or caretaker.

This Interactive Story-Based Installation requires a device and headphones for the full experience. Please bring your own, or contact the library Service Desk to borrow equipment. Check with the library to reserve your spot or find hours this experience is available. The experience varies in length, but averages 20-30 minutes.

Searching For Booklings is “curated” by playwright and Bookling historian, Tara Meddaugh.
