EXCERPT BELOW

MARNIE

(speaking to Gavin, her boyfriend)

Wait—Gavin—before you put your hand in that bag…I want you to think about it. And ask yourself this question: Is it fair, go into your Gavin-mind-space and ask, is it fair, to be putting our fate, our relationship future, in the hands of a little… a little heart-shaped piece of sugar? These are really designed for kids, aren’t they? I mean, some of them might be a little inappropriate for kids—like, “ur hot”… I think one says: “split rent,” and, I mean, there’s always been: “kiss me”…. Hm. Now that I’m thinking about it, maybe these candies are not really meant for kids… But my point is, they’re not supposed to be taken seriously. Okay? Look… I know you’re mad at me, because you think I cheated on you. But this is not how mature people handle problems—END OF EXCERPT
