30-Second Monologues

While not as common, these bite-sized monologues can come in handy! So I’ve started a new page solely devoted to these 30-second monologues. Finding an impactful monologue that is less than 1 minute can be challenging. You want to convey engaging emotion, a bit or story and arc, and hopefully have a powerful opening and closing line. This is not easy in such a short time! But I’m up for the challenge and I know you, as actors/directors, are up for that too! So enjoy my growing list of memorable little monologues that can leave your mark in only 30 seconds.

Butterfly in the Tomato Plant: (dramatic/children’s)
Nicole relates to a butterfly with a torn wing, after a group of children mishandled it. She offers the butterfly a safe home in her windowsill.

Eiffel Tower Keychain (dramatic/children’s)
Lindsey gains strength as she confronts a bully who has taken a precious glass souvenir of hers.

Haircuts for Hannah (comedic/teen)
Emma is talking to a group of her dance friends. She feels bad for a girl in their class who is not as stylish as they are and comes up with a novel way to make her feel included.

Nature With You (comedic)
Kyra is on a walk with her best friend, Emily, when a bug lands on Kyra’s head. She implores Emily to get it off, and can’t believe her friend is not helping her!

Pit Trap Meredith (comedy/drama/female/any gender)
Rabbit Meredith defends herself at being blamed for abandoning her sister in a tree stump. But there’s a reason she couldn’t make it to the stump. And it has to do with some really mean rabbits. From the play, The Moon River Raft.

Pitfalls and Treasures - Mary’s monologue (dramatic, comedic)
Seagull Mary warns her new injured seagull companion that trusting her, or anyone, is nothing to rely on.

Candy Wrappers at Midnight (comedic/children’s)
Adrian wakes up in the middle of the night and confronts his father who stands by the kitchen pantry, guiltily holding Adrian’s Halloween candy wrappers.

The Beautiful Bracelet (dramatic/teen)
Riley confronts her grieving friend, Hayley, whom she saw shoplift a bracelet.

The Reason I’m Single (comedic/older teen through young adult)
Rebecca finally is ready to admit to her friend Kelly why she doesn’t have a boyfriend. And it’s not for the reasons Kelly thinks…
