Into The Violet: New dark comedy

NADINE: And she left us with the gnomes and never came back.
LOLA: Now I hate her.
NADINE: Me too. (pause) Unless she’s dead because that’s not her fault.

Aw…But he’s so cute…

That’s part of the dialogue two fairies have about the little girl who caught them in a jar and stuck them behind a waterfall! If you’re local to the tri-state area, you can check out my new dark comedy/absurdist play, INTO THE VIOLET, where Nadine and Lola struggle through hope and despair, reality and fantasy—to create the escape they desperately need. (Script will be available in June).

Most of the time, I don’t get to see my plays being performed, but a few times a year, I get to see a brand new play of mine brought to life. It’s always a thrill to be part of the process, and I’m forever grateful to that original team who make the experience so special.

INTO THE VIOLET is being performed at Westchester Collaborative Theater, May 12-21, as part of the Living Art Event. This play is put together by a fabulous team: directed by Missy Flower featuring Julie Griffin and Missy Flower (special thanks to Amy Lowenthal and Mel Nocera!). Thanks also to Kevin Christopher Snipes and Albi Gorn for their feedback on various drafts.

Along with INTO THE VIOLET, you’ll see 5 other new plays (writers and plays below), all inspired by pieces of artwork in collaboration with the Ossining Arts Council (such a cool idea!). My play is inspired by Teresa Hougnon's gorgeous and entrancing piece, "Water Fall."
